Breaking into international development

Fellowship events

 -  | GMT Standard Time

Tavern Room, The RSA

Interested in international development? Thought about learning the practical steps to take you to the top of the broad and diverse international development ladder?

This is your chance to meet like-minded students, a mass of RSA fellows in the field and some leading voices across the different sectors of international development.

The event will take the form of an interactive panel and circle discussion.

Join us and get involved in our interactive elements by listing questions you might have in advance to frame the discussion better. Let us know your dream impact, if you could do one thing in International Development to better the world what would it be and why?

From here, we’ll hear brief but informative introduction speeches from the London Student Network and the RSA. Speakers will then introduce themselves, outlining their careers from start to finish, exploring the most challenging and beneficial parts of their job offering practical advice along the way. From there we’ll compile your most pressing questions into 4 moderated questions before opening up to some general audience questions.

One of the more exciting features of this event is our circular discussions. We’ll divide the room up into three and run seminar-like sessions where you can ask more specific questions relating to your circumstances with our speakers. We’ll rotate every 10 minutes.

Finally, we’ll finish with some informal networking at the RSA bar.
The event is fueled by student collaboration, we enormously appreciate all societies for getting involved. This is a wonderful chance to meet people with shared interests and ideas across the city and learn all you’d need to about international development.

Speakers to be announced soon.

Fellowship status will be checked upon arrival.

Taking part in-person events

To participate in the event, you will need to register for a ticket so we can make sure we have an up-to-date list of those who plan on attending. If you wish to register another attendee, this must be done separately using a different email address. This is for capacity purposes. We encourage all attendees who are ill or showing symptoms of illness to stay home and to cancel your Eventbrite ticket if you are no longer able to join the event.

At the RSA, we strive to create inclusive and supportive environments for all Fellows. We recognise that individuals may require different forms of support to fully participate in our events and activities. Therefore, we welcome and encourage Fellows to bring the support they feel is necessary, whether it be a carer, an emotional support animal, or any other form of assistance. We ask that you fill out the accessibility requirements box in your Eventbrite booking form in advance of attending one of our events to ensure that the venues can accommodate such requirements. Our aim is to ensure that everyone feels comfortable and valued, and we are committed to accommodating diverse needs to foster an inclusive community.
