We all need hope and we all long for change. From Southern Asia to Southern England, this session gives us the opportunity to share in the inspirational work and learnings from two of our overseas Fellows.
Professor Alka Hingorani and Dr Marc Nemiroff share a common approach to their work. Inspirational and life-changing it certainly is, but they approach it with humility. They are continually questioning what they do, and how they can do better, and acknowledging how much they are learning from those they are seeking to help. They have valuable insights to share which apply to any change project, large or small.
This first session will be followed by a workshop session in the New Year on “Co-creating change”, which will delve deeper into the challenges and rewards of working hand in hand with local communities to bring about lasting change.
About our speakers:
Professor Alka Hingorani FRSA
Alka is Professor of Design at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Mumbai. She and her team are co-creating an innovative education programme, working with teachers and pupils in some of India’s most remote rural schools.
Dr Marc Nemiroff FRSA
Marc is a clinical psychologist practicing in America, but it is his work with some of India’s poorest, forgotten people which is the focus of this session.
