The Covid pandemic has acted as a major catalysing force in the adoption of flexible working.  Join us at this RSA Inclusive Work, Disability and Ageing Network event to explore new learnings, thinking and trends on flexible working, as the world moves into a new era.

Traditionally, women have driven change around maternity leave, access to childcare, shared roles, and part-time working. The Covid pandemic has taken more men into that space, enabling them to experience different ways of working.

The pandemic also revealed significant demand among disabled and older workers for flexible working. Despite the challenges experienced in the pandemic, a TUC survey of disabled workers who worked from home during the pandemic found 90% wanted to continue doing so.

This momentum can be harnessed to change attitudes and improve access to flexibility.

In this event, there will be short presentations from speakers who are setting out to address some key issues. Our speakers include:

  • Gillian Nissim, Founder and CEO, WM People
  • Stefan Tromel, Senior Disability Specialist, International Labour Organization
  • Helen Wilkinson, UK HR Project and Policy Manager, GSK
  • Dr Hamied Haroon, Chair, The National Association of Disabled Staff Networks (NADSN)

This event will be chaired by Kim Chaplain, Special Advisor for Work at the Centre for Ageing Better, and Steering Group Member of the RSA Inclusive Work, Disability and Ageing Network.

The speakers’ presentations will be interspersed with small group breakout discussions and plenary feedback, in which we welcome you to contribute your own thoughts and learnings. We plan to share key points that arise in a follow-up article for the RSA website.

This event is led by the RSA Inclusive Work, Disability and Ageing Network – an RSA Fellowship Network which aims to bring together people from different perspectives and backgrounds to explore and progress an inclusive future of work.

We welcome all who are interested from anywhere in the world, within and beyond our RSA Fellowship community.
