Can sharing our ‘deep stories’ help heal social divisions, create stronger communities, and produce a better, wiser politics?

Ed Cox, the RSA’s director of Public Services and Communities welcomes journalist, writer and critic John Harris to host an evening of story-telling by ordinary people living extraordinary lives.

Bringing a range of experience from across the UK, our narrators explore the ‘new giants’ facing 21st century Britain - inequality, isolation, intolerance, disempowerment and climate change.

Their stories reveal the everyday realities of local communities responding to these challenges with courageous and innovative efforts for change.

To celebrate the opening of the RSA’s new coffeehouse, Rawthmells, we’re bringing together a series of powerful conversations and sharing the best ideas on some of the challenges we face as a society in the next decade and beyond.

Explore the full calendar of events and join the conversation.
