Suthers Court - RSA House Blue Plaque Tour - RSA

Suthers Court

Suthers Court makes up part of the Vaults at RSA House. We took possession of the Vaults in their entirety in 1982.

At the time, because there was no vertical connection between them and the main house, they were sublet to a range of tenants for warehousing.

Two floors below the front entrance level of the main house, the original Yorkstone slabs have been retained and structural brickwork has been sandblasted.

In this area, part of RSA Coffee House, visitors can see a contemporary portrait of the late Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, by Justin Mortimer, 1991 BP Portrait Award winner. This portrait was commissioned to commemorate 50 years of royal patronage.

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II was President of the RSA from 1947 (as Princess Elizabeth) until 1952 and then Patron following her accession until her death in 2022. She was the first female patron of the RSA.

The Vaults

Originally river-front warehouses, the Vaults offer a striking contrast to the rooms above, with their exposed 18th-century brickwork. The interconnecting spaces when used together create an impressive backdrop for parties, weddings, product launches, press days, photoshoots and exhibitions.
