Join us to discuss the effect of Covid-19 on the future of work for disabled people.
The session aims to offer a space for all to understand the potential impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic on disabled people’s employment in the medium to long term.
We will ask whether this might affect progress on the employment and economic participation provisions within the Sustainable Development Goals and the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
Speakers will include:
-
Liz Sayce (Chair) OBE FRSA (and former CEO of Disability Rights UK)
-
Shane Kanady FRSA, Vice President of Workforce Development for SourceAmerica
-
Lela Kogbara, Chair of Health and Employment Partnerships
-
Gail Tong, Alumni, Leadership Academy Programme, Disability Rights UK
-
Professor Melanie Jones, Cardiff Business School
The panel will focus on ways to:
-
generate ideas to maximise opportunities for decent work and pay, and minimise risks to livelihoods
-
identify relationships to promote those opportunities
-
discuss actions that could be taken forward after the event.
Topics covered will include a discussion on which sectors and groups of disabled workers are most likely to be negatively affected, and the implications of government measures around the world.
The session will be collaborative and participatory, consisting of short panel presentations interspersed with interaction and small group discussion.
