Its goal is to discover practical ways in which Suffolk can become a place where education is excellent and improving, schools and employers work together. We're inviting you to submit ideas to meet the inquiry's challenge of improving education standards in the area.

Great Recovery workshops

The Great Recovery project kick-starts with a series of hands-on workshops at centres around the UK where designers, material scientists, manufacturers and others can come face-to-face with the challenges around material recovery and design for disassembly. There will be approximately ten workshops, taking place throughout October.

Catalyst recently awarded support to ideas including: a temporary and low-cost sports space for inner-city estates\\; a part-shop part-technology lab\\; a scheme for young people to mentor SMEs in social media\\; a crowd-funding platform for post-graduate studies.

Vivs Long-Ferguson

A long, long time ago, well it seems like it, I took on the role of Deputy Head of Regional Programme. For the uninitiated the Regional Programme supports Fellows develop their projects and connect them to other Fellows, organisations and institutions to achieve their aims and maximise their impact. We work closely with our colleagues the Specialist Programme team who develop tools such as RSA Catalyst. Over the coming months we will be looking at developing key areas; making sure core Regional Teams are in place, ensuring all UK Regions and Nations have a Development Plan, helping to implement their strategies, looking to improve how we ensure all our volunteers have a rewarding experience. For the past few months this has felt like a dream with Alice Dyke and me keeping the Regional Programme flame alive with support from a variety of colleagues and Fellows. This week though the dream becomes a reality and we welcome some new faces and help an existing one take on a new role. So let me now introduce you to the new Regional Programme Team:

When my boss told me that I needed to raise my profile on social media, I was somewhat lost. After all, life as a part of the Fellowship Services team rarely seems to throw up the need to use Facebook, Twitter or what have you. We’re the stagehands of the RSA Fellowship; we keep the production going, pulling ropes, adjusting lights, making sure the scene is as it should be. And who, I thought, wants to hear about how the mise en scène is arranged?

On <b>Wednesday 12 September</b> from 6pm-9pm, Matthew Taylor will deliver his 2012 Annual Lecture – The Power to Act: A new angle on our toughest problems, in which he will argue that a power deficit is at the heart of some of the world’s most complex and pressing problems. As well as the lecture being available to watch live online, it will be live screened in Berlin, in partnership with the British Council.
