Talk Shop is looking for Fellows who would like to help organise an event on immigration policy in their part of the world.
The aim of Talk Shop is to create dialogue across divides. Last year, Talk Shop ran ten events around the country on the EU referendum. These were among the few that created a safe space for a constructive discussion between leavers and remainers. This year’s events are about immigration, encouraged by the fact that the Home Affairs Select Committee of the House of Commons is conducting an inquiry into developing a consensus on an effective immigration policy. Talk Shop events will contribute to that.
Talk Shop have events already held or forthcoming in Birmingham (open for booking), Hereford, Huntingdon, Liverpool, London, Manchester and Sheffield. They’d like more. Events last for 2 - 3 hours and are for 20 – 40 people. Talk Shop provide all materials and facilitators. All they need is a venue and some people. And they’re doing this on a shoestring, so if a train fare is possible that is much appreciated.
If you are interested in helping Talk Shop to make an event happen, or in attending an event they have already arranged, please email Perry Walker FRSA on perry@openupuk.org or call him on 07858 750936
