HRH The Princess Royal comes to West Kent Recovery exhibition

We are delighted that on the RSA's president, HRH The Princess Royal, will open a landmark exhibition of stories of recovery from problematic alcohol and drug use. This exhibition is hosted by the Action and Research Centre's Whole Person Recovery programme at The River Centre in Tonbridge, Kent and we are very grateful that Her Royal Highness has given up time in her busy schedule to visit.

The Whole Person Recovery team have been working with our partners CRI and Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust to pilot an innovative model for recovery services. The various strands of the model highlight the importance of building community, social and personal capital in order to form a strong foundation for recovery through under-developed or untapped networks and resources. This approach acknowledges and appreciates each individual's personal recovery journey. 

The exhibition this June, as part of a series of events for Recovery Month, is a celebration of the courage, compassion and hope needed to undertake, sustain and support recovery. The RSA has commissioned Stepping Stone Studios in Maidstone to host a series of workshops on painting and sculpture to draw out pieces from the extended recovery community in West Kent. Also exhibited will be a series of portraits of West Kent Recovery Service staff and community members by the photographer Mikele Roselli-Ceccone. HRH The Princess Royal will greet artists and attendees and officially open the exhibition which will remain in Tonbridge for a month before touring to Maidstone and Gravesend over the summer/autumn. 

RSA Fellows are welcome to attend the opening (to attend, please register your place at the event ) and visit the exhibition as it tours. You can also attend one of our forthcoming public events: on , at CRI Tonbridge Professor David Morris will speak on mental health, inclusion and community and on Wednesday 26 June Dr. Paramabandu Groves will be speaking in Gravesend on mindfulness and addiction.
