Get involved in the RSA Student Design Awards

As part of the RSA’s work around design and manufacturing, each year we run a competition for students worldwide to create design solutions to pressing social, economic and environmental challenges. 

Each of the  8 design briefs in this year's competition are focused around a different issue – ranging from how we might foster creative thinking (Creative Conditions) and make healthy eating appealing to young people (The Daily Diet), to designing sustainable toys (Fair Play) and ways for people and communities to celebrate heritage (Heritage by Design).

The Awards are fuelled by mutually beneficial partnerships with a range of organisations and individuals. In the past, Fellows have helped curate briefs and sat on the judging panels. If you would like to become involved with this project there are a number of ways:

Use an SDA brief in your curriculum:  If you work at or are involved with a college or university find out how becoming involved with the SDAs can benefit your institution

Sponsor a brief: If your company wants to support future talent and engage with some truly innovative ideas there are opportunities to co-develop and sponsor future briefs.

Host an event: A growing network of partners helps SDA participants by hosting free seminars, workshops and talks that inspire and advise participants. 

Become a knowledge partner: If you have industry expertise help us develop the scheme by sharing ideas, judging entries and speaking at associated events. 

Mentor a student: A fantastic way to share your knowledge with talented young people and their help develop their short-listed projects

Participate: Currently enrolled students and recent graduates studying on any recognised higher education course, anywhere in the world, can enter via the submission form on the Student Design Awards website. Final deadline is midnight on 4 March 2015.
