The RSA Environment Awards Forum consists of a network of experts, many of whom are Fellows, who assess schemes entering into the European Business Awards for the Environment (EBAE). The Forum is now looking for assessors with experience in the environment sector to judge the entrants.
The EBAE Awards
The European Business Awards for the Environment (EBAE) were established by the European Commission Environment Directorate-General in 1987. They are presented every two years and aim to recognise and reward European companies that set an example by successfully bringing together innovation, economic viability and environmental concerns. The scheme consists of five awards, rewarding companies for management practices, products, processes, international business cooperation and biodiversity activities that contribute to economic and social development without detriment to the environment. The next EBAE will be held in 2014.
RSA Environment Awards Forum
Created by a group of RSA Fellows, the RSA Environment Awards Forum aims to stimulate and actively encourage innovation in environmental and sustainable development practice throughout the UK. Within this, the Forum presents an accreditation scheme that recognises awards that meet a range of objective standards. The RSA Accredited Award winners are the only UK businesses that are permitted to enter the EBAE.
Call for assessors
The selection of UK entrants for EBAE is a two stage process. The RSA Environment Awards Forum is now looking for Assessors for the first stage of this process.
The UK assessment period will take place in the month of January. The Forum is looking for a pool of assessors from a range of specialisms that are FRSA. There is no formal application process to become an assessor due to the Fellowship prerequisite. The Secretariat will select the final panel of assessors based on the number of entries received and notify those chosen by the end of December.
If you would like to be an assessor for the EBAE awards, please send an email with full contact details to rsa@imsplc.com.
