Join us for the first in a series of online discussions on ethics and responsibility in a climate crisis.
About this event:
Over the last century, rapid advancements in technology have led to dramatic improvements in people's material well-being and standard of living. However, these advances have also put unsustainable pressure on Earth's systems and are responsible for the major threats now facing humanity — including climate breakdown, nuclear warfare and the risks posed by AI.
As the rate of human development continues to increase at scale, ethicists are urgently calling for more rigorous decision-making around innovation and technology. In particular, they are drawing attention to what Dr Ted Lechterman terms our dangerous "ethicophobia" - or reluctance to explore the ethical imperative of why something should be developed in the first place.
Join Dr Ted Lechterman and sociotechnologist Nathan (Nate) Kinch FRSA for the first in a series of fascinating online discussions around ethics and responsibility in a climate crisis.
