We are pleased to invite you to a special meeting of RSA Northampton with RSA Historian Anton Howes. Anton will be sharing the research he has been doing on William Shipley, founder of the RSA.
It was while living in Northampton (on the Drapery), that Shipley developed his vision for a Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce, before moving to London to see it made a reality.
Anton is writing a book of the history of the RSA, from its founding to the present day: this is a unique opportunity to get a special – and very local – preview, ahead of its publication. Come and be inspired!
After Anton’s talk, we hope you can join us for informal networking and drinks. There’ll also be an opportunity to do some wine-tasting, under the expert guidance of local FRSA and Master of Wine, Christopher Burr.
On arrival, please come to the Learning Hub. We’ll be in Threads, on the fourth floor.
There are two restaurants open to the public on campus for anyone who may wish to linger and continue the conversations over a meal.
Places are limited so please let us know you’re coming. We welcome both existing Fellows and anyone who is interested in finding out more about the RSA.
If you have any access requirements or require any reasonable adjustments, please let the team know: networks@rsa.org.uk. Please also let us know if you have any dietary requirements or severe allergies.
PS please note this event was originally scheduled for December and postponed due to illness.
Location: Threads, Floor 4, Learning Hub, University of Northampton, Waterside Campus, University Drive, Northampton NN1 5PH
