Hear from the next generation of leaders and peacekeepers as they have their voices heard on war and conflict, through the arts.

The exhibition is curated by Never Such Innocence (NSI), which launched in 2014, initially to give children and opportunity to reflect on the centenary of the First World War. By 2018 the charity had reached young people in 47 countries, territories and dependencies. NSI then embarked on a year-long international consultation with schools and community groups, to develop a new programme: Giving Children and Young People a Voice on Confict. To date, NSI have worked with people in 125 countries.

The exhibition will feature artwork from around the world by young people 9–18, who have won in the charity’s international competitions over the past decade.

NSI’s mission is to provide tools for children and young people to reflect on the realities of war and conflict and to have a voice in the future. NSI looks to nurture the next generation of thinkers, leaders and peacekeepers through the arts; inspiring cultural exchange and dialogue.

NSI fosters international dialogue through workshops, roadshows and special events to bring children from different communities and indeed, countries together. The programme was not to simply give young people a voice on conflict; it was to facilitate ongoing conversations, which looked to empower the next generation of decision-makers to understand conflict from each other’s points of view.

Events during the week:

Monday 1 July, 6pm. Young artistic reflections: conflict from around the world. Book here.

Thursday 4 July, 1pm. Reflections on conflict: why we need to listen to the next generation. Book here.
