Pupil Design Awards

The RSA Pupil Design Awards is a competition for secondary school children that focuses on using design to solve real life problems. The competition aims to nurture the talents of secondary school pupils and foster the belief that good design has the power to change and improve the lives of others.

The strength of the previous two years of the RSA Pupil Design Awards has been its connection to RDIs and SDA winners and this is something that has continued through this year. We have had former SDA winners act as mentors for the students participating in schools, attending workshops and helping students work through the design briefs that have been set. We are delighted to have secured Peter Higgins RDI, as a judge on our panel, alongside others including Liz Corbin from UCL’s Institute of Making.

On the 23^rd June see our judges assembled for the first time as they begin to whittle down the entries from our 7 schools to our final shortlist. The students who have produced the shortlisted entries will come to RSA House on the 4^th July to pitch their solutions to our judging panel in person. We are excited to see what the students will submit, the feedback from the workshops suggests that the judges can expect some exciting and creative responses to the three different briefs; Making Together, Celebrating Our Heritage and Everyday Well-Being.
