EAT LOCAL
The solution is simple and due to its popularity, people far beyond Todmorden are now exchanging seeds helping with planting and running complimentary campaigns. All sorts of groups have adopted the Incredible Edible name, from near-neighbours in Rossendale to Wakefield to people all over the world who come to visit and share ideas.
Scalability
The movement is highly scalable as it can be taken to any town or city anywhere int he world where enough local people want to grow and eat more local food. Incredible Edible received Catalyst funding from the RSA and was a runner up for the RSA Centenary Prize in 2014.
Since then it has scaled up considerably. The project was able to access Lottery funding for a food hub at Tod High School and are currently waiting for the final planning permission.
They have also branched out to greenfield sites, working on donated land in Walsden to create a major resource for growing and learning, and on donated land in Gorpley to develop ideas about hill-top farming.
