Designing our futures 2019

This week finalists, judges, industry partners and friends filled the RSA for Designing our Futures: the 2019 RSA Student Design Awards Ceremony.

The evening was opened by Gabriella de Rosa telling her story of winning an RSA Student Design Award last year and becoming part of the design team at the RSA. Keynote speaker Kate Dundas won an RSA Student Design Awards in 2002, and shared her inspirational professional journey: from industrial design through landscape architecture to leading on Melbourne City planning. Kate expanded on some of her favourite projects and the personal values that shape her work.

RSA Trustee Andrea Kershaw presented the 2019 awards sharing an overview of each winning project. Winners then took to the stage in the RSA’s historic Great Room to receive their ‘stepping stone’ awards (designed by Robin Levien RDI) as their projects lit up the big screen. Massive congratulations to the 2019 winners and finalists, and thank you to the many industry partners, judges, university tutors and participants who’ve made this, our 95th year, such a brilliant success!

The 2019/20 briefs will be released online in August, and our London Launch and Briefing Event will take place at the RSA in September – watch this space for updates.
