Tucked away on John Adam Street, RSA House is just few steps away from The Strand in the heart of Central London. The house boasts a variety of original features, characteristic Georgian details and contemporary designs that offer incredible backdrops for pictures. There are plenty of gorgeous photo opportunities around the area as well, in fact we are just a stone’s throw away from Embankment Gardens, Trafalgar Square and Covent Garden. During your pre-dinner drinks reception is the perfect time to capture these photographs. Below we have selected just a few of our favourites:
JOHN ADAM STREET
Surrounded by beautiful buildings, John Adam Street is one of the most unique and quiet locations in Central London. The road is named after the Adam brothers, who were very successful architects that in the 18th Century oversaw the Adelphi developments in the area and the construction of the original Georgian houses (including RSA House). The exterior of RSA House is one of the most picturesque locations for that all-important confetti shot.
One of our favourite photo spots is just outside the Adelphi Building directly opposite RSA House; the beautiful detailed architecture of the building sets the scene together with the imposing columns, wonderfully decorated with star signs.
COVENT GARDEN
Especially during the festive period, we recommend our couples to take some pictures in Covent Garden, where all the designers express their creativity with amazing decorations. The atmosphere is magic and despite the crowd, there is always a chance to get a romantic, marvellous pictures in the vivid market or in the beautiful Piazza.
Covent Garden played different roles during the centuries and attracted different social classes. You of course won’t see people carrying barrels and baskets on their heads and don’t hear flower girls shouting anymore, but the historic wholesale fruit-and-vegetable market maintained its charm during the years.
THE STRAND
The Strand is a perfect location for all the couples that are looking for an immersive city vibe scenario. Historically, this beautiful road ran parallel to the north bank of the River Thames and it was called ‘strond’, meaning ‘shore’, or ‘edge of a river’ in Old English.
Now, it is one of the most active and well-known roads in London, but also an interesting place to take pictures. If you are looking for a quirky and colourful atmosphere, the road itself with its busses, taxis, shops and theatres will play a starrole in your pictures. If you prefer architectural buildings, you might want to consider The Royal Courts of Justice and Somerset House. If you are looking for a more luxurious and classy background, you can always stop off at the Savoy Hotel.
RIVER BANK
The river offers dramatic focal points for pictures as well as a beautiful and serene atmosphere, the light is always great, and the river boats liven up the scene.
The London Eye can play once again an important role in your pictures. All the magnificent buildings on the other side of the river and the bridges are a perfect background too.
SAVOY PLACE and THE VICTORIA EMBANKMENT GARDENS
The Victoria Embankment Gardens are a series of beautiful and colourful gardens on the north side of the River Thames. The atmosphere is vibrant and the nature itself offers a great background for pictures. You will find grass areas, flowers in bloom and beautiful trees as well as iconic views of the London Eye from the breath-taking Adelphi terrace.
Don’t trouble yourself too much trying to decide which option works best, nothing stops you from picking them all!
