Richard is Ricardo’s Technical Director and International Lead on Climate Adaptation. Working in the environmental sector for 40 years, he has led or provided expert input to projects in relation to more than 40 countries beyond Europe. Richard has wide-ranging experience of: evidence and policy development; policy, programme and technical monitoring, evaluation and impact assessment; systematic rapid evidence assessment; natural resource management; and stakeholder involvement. Since 1998, many of his projects have related to climate adaptation and the adaptation-mitigation nexus. For example, he led development of Palestine’s NAP (among the first globally), directed evaluation of the EU Adaptation Strategy 2013-20, supported the impact assessment for the new Strategy 2021-27, and developed an adaptation toolkit targeting nature-based solutions for the World's largest public works programme (MGNREGS in India).
