Maria Farrell

Maria Farrell is a Senior Consultant on Internet Policy and Governance for InterConnect Communications. Alongside policy consulting projects, she develops and delivers training in Internet governance, cyber security and privacy, and teaches politics and policy on Oxford University’s doctoral programme in cyber security. Previously, Maria was deputy head of corporate affairs and policy officer at ICANN, the body coordinating global Internet names and numbers. She has held positions as a telecoms and internet policy expert at the International Chamber of Commerce, the UK's Confederation of British Industry and The Law Society of England and Wales. Maria also led communications and a government advisory project on the economic feasibility of national electronic waste policies at infoDev the World Bank/IFC program for technology and innovation for development. She is a Board Director of the Open Rights Group and writes occasionally on technology for The Guardian.
