Charlotte Balfour-Poole
Senior Humanitarian Education Advisor, Save the Children UK
Charlotte is Senior Humanitarian Education Advisor for Save the Children UK, with a special interest in supporting children who are the most vulnerable in emergencies. She has overall responsibility for leading the Education in Emergencies (EiE) team, driving the development and delivery of the Humanitarian Education strategy, co-chairing Save the Children’s movement wide EiE working group, and managing a large team of HQ and international advisors and emergency response personnel. She currently also provides technical assistance to the Syria regional response (including Syria, Lebanon, Jordan and Iraq) as well as DRC, CAR, South Sudan, Ethiopia and Nepal.
Charlotte has over 10 years of experience in the sector, and has worked as an emergency education specialist and as education cluster coordinator across the globe including Chad, Kenya, DRC, Pakistan, Haiti, Kyrgyzstan, Ethiopia, Liberia and Cote d'Ivoire where she has developed, scaled up and managed emergency education response programmes, and coordinated humanitarian actors and Ministries of Education to deliver education in emergencies.
