Benjamin Barber is a Senior Research Scholar at the Center on Philanthropy and Civil Society at The Graduate Center, The City University of New York, Founder and President of CivWorld, and Walt Whitman Professor of Political Science Emeritus, Rutgers University.
An internationally renowned political theorist, Dr Barber consults regularly with political and civic leaders in the United States and around the world.
His books include If Mayors Ruled the World: Dysfunctional Nations, Rising Cities (2013). He is also author of the classic Strong Democracy (1984); the international best-seller Jihad Vs. McWorld; Fear’s Empire: War, Terrorism and Democracy(2003) and Consumed: How Markets Corrupt Children Infantilize Adults, and Swallow Citizens Whole (2007).
