We are pleased to announce a major event led by the RSA Inclusive Growth Commission and Leeds City Region, exploring how we can make the economy more inclusive and prosperous.
In advance of the Commission’s final recommendations into inclusive growth, the event will launch a practical “how to” guide for putting inclusion at the heart of our approaches to economic growth.
Building on the initiatives that Leeds City Region and other places are already leading, this event will explore what reforms, tools and levers are needed to achieve inclusive growth, and hear directly from local people about their lived experiences of the economy and economic growth.
We will be joined by Government representatives, city leaders, business and community representatives, and thought leaders from across the UK. As well as Stephanie Flanders, Chair of the Commission, the event will be hosted by Mark Easton, Home editor at the BBC, speakers will include Andrew Percy MP, Minister for Local Growth and the Northern Powerhouse, Lord Mawson OBE, one of the UK’s leading social entrepreneurs, Cllr Susan Hinchcliffe, Leader of Bradford Council, Cllr Judith Blake, Leader of Leeds City Council, Kersten England, Chief Executive of Bradford Council, Pat Ritchie, Chief Executive of Newcastle City Council and David Woods CBE, Chair of the London Leadership Strategy and the lead adviser to the London Challenge. Further speakers are to be confirmed shortly.
The Inclusive Growth Commission is a year-long inquiry into how places across the UK can drive growth and productivity through greater economic inclusivity. It is chaired by Stephanie Flanders, Chief Market Strategist at JP Morgan and former BBC Economics Editor.
