We will explore the context of Inclusive Growth agenda within Scotland, where it is held up as a key policy focus for the Scottish Government. Our speakers will explore the potential for developing an Inclusive Growth strategy rooted in a Scottish context and building on the strengths available to us.
This will be the first RSA Inclusive Growth Commission seminar to be held in Scotland. The Commission is a year-long inquiry into how local economies can drive growth, productivity and prosperity through greater economic inclusivity. The Commission is a successor to the influential RSA City Growth Commission and is chaired by Stephanie Flanders, JP Morgan Chief Market Strategist (UK and Europe) and former BBC Economics Editor.
It will consider the impact that further devolutions of powers to Scotland might have on the agenda, especially within the context of current and proposed City deals, and the wider impact on towns and places across the country.
This will also consider the relationship between the various layers of government, and the extent (or lack) of devolution withinScotland. Finally, it will also seek to understand the needs of enterprise – business, SMEs, the social sector and entrepreneurs – in supporting more dynamic, resilient and inclusive local economies.
