Chiesa di Sant'Agostino, Civitanova Marche Alta, MC, Italy.

Presented in partnership with RSA in Italy, this exhibition brings together around 40 important works of contemporary Chinese art from the Sabbatini Rancidoro collection, collected over a 40-year diplomatic career in continuous contact with the Far East.

It is hosted at the Pinacoteca Moretti in Civitanova Marche Alta / Chiesa di Sant'Agostino. This exhibition is unticketed and free to attend.

The exhibition is entitled 'Let 100 Flowers Bloom', from a famous phrase by Chairman Mao Zedong, and aims to bring together the economic, social, artistic and tourist reality of the Marche region with the excellence of Chinese contemporary art.

The Marche region is at the forefront of the Chinese collective imagination, given the origin of the famous cultural mediator Father Matteo Ricci, an Italian missionary who visited China in the 17th century, leaving an indelible imprint of Italian culture and Marche tradition.

Matteo Ricci is one of the two foreigners best known to the Chinese, together with Marco Polo, whose 700th anniversary falls in 2024.

It is particularly significant that this initiative is ideally timed to allow cultural exchanges between two territories so far apart yet so close, so that the territories travelled by the two great Italians can symbolically flourish with art and friendship.

Among the works on display, a traditional painting on rice paper by Master Zhang Da Qian, considered the most important Chinese artist of the 20th century; two works by Prof. Hsiao Chin, the first Chinese teacher at Brera, a distinguished artist; a pop work by Xu De Qi, which compares two icons of Italy and China in a cultural cross-fertilisation very appropriate to the occasion; among the calligraphies, two important works by the last descendant of the Emperor of China, Master Calligrapher Aisin Gioro.
