Thursday 28 November: Growing our Creative Businesses
Join us to discuss how Southampton can nurture and grow its creative businesses.
The creative industries contribute over £115bn to the UK economy. From cultural events to world-class architecture, advertising, TV and film production and gaming, we are a global creative superpower.
The Royal Society of Arts (RSA) and the Creative Policy and Evidence Centre (Creative PEC) recently published their Creative Corridors report, outlining steps that can be taken to connect, support and grow creative businesses and clusters.
Meanwhile, the underlying research identified Southampton and the broader Solent region as having strengths in the sector.
How can we support our creative businesses? How can we collaborate more broadly to unleash the potential of our creative city?
Confirmed speakers and panellists include:
- Fred Bassett FRSA (Southampton Network lead, Event host)
- Tom Stratton (Chief of Staff at the RSA)
- Ed Gould FRSA (Creative Director, Carswell Gould & Chair of Venturefest South)
- Evan Preston (Presto Films and The Purple Cow Film Network)
- Daisy Burns-O'Keefe (Marketer and host of the Inner Avenue podcast highlighting creative talent in Southampton)
- Edgar Lushaju (Graphic artist and creative storyteller)
Thursday 12 December: Fellows Festive Gathering
Join other Fellows in Southampton for a friendly festive gathering to connect and chat in a relaxed environment.
Taking part in RSA in-person events
To participate in the event, you will need to register for a ticket so we can make sure we have an up-to-date list of those who plan on attending. If you wish to register another attendee, this must be done separately using a different email address. This is for capacity purposes. We encourage all attendees that are ill or showing symptoms of illness to stay home and to cancel your Eventbrite ticket if you are no longer able to join the event.
At the RSA, we strive to create inclusive and supportive environments for all Fellows. We recognise that individuals may require different forms of support to fully participate in our events and activities. Therefore, we welcome and encourage Fellows to bring the support they feel is necessary, whether it be a carer, an emotional support animal, or any other form of assistance. We ask that you fill out the accessibility requirements box in your Eventbrite booking form in advance of attending one of our events to ensure that the venues can accommodate such requirements. Our aim is to ensure that everyone feels comfortable and valued, and we are committed to accommodating diverse needs to foster an inclusive community.
