Join us to explore the diverse practices and perspectives within our RSA Living Change approach. These are the vital ingredients we all need as changemakers to tackle complex social and environmental problems.

In this monthly interactive events series, we share with you the perspectives and practices that the RSA and our Fellows are using to imagine and realise better futures for people, place and planet.

From long-term thinking to collective action, from participatory futures to regenerative design, join us to discuss the roles they play in our and your changemaking work.

At this event, Colin Briggs (Director of Strategic Planning) and Rebecca Miller (Head of Strategy Development) from NHS Lothian in Scotland will be joined by Ella Firebrace (RSA Innovation and Change Manager) and Riley Thorold (RSA Researcher). They will discuss our joint work engaging NHS staff and Lothian residents in moving towards healthier and happier futures for the organisation and the communities it serves.

Find out about our NHS Lothian Residents Engagement project, which brought together a panel of residents through a series of participatory events, drawing on ‘deliberative’ and ‘futures’ approaches in a distinctive model that could be applied to other places and policy areas.

We will also share insights from the NHS Lothian Public Service Entrepreneur Programme – a six-month journey for 12 NHS staff developing mindsets and skills, and building on their own big ideas for change alongside a wider collective ambition for innovation and transformational change across the organisation.

Presentations from our speakers will be followed by an opportunity for questions and discussion.

We welcome all changemakers who are interested from different fields and disciplines, within and beyond our RSA Fellowship community.

These are hybrid events: you can take part in-person or online. Join us on The Steps in The Coffee House – an opportunity to meet others and grab something to eat or drink before, during or after the event. Or connect to The Coffee House online, from wherever you are in the world, via Zoom.

Taking part in-person

We've been looking forward to finally being able to meet together in person. But we of course recognise it is important for us to stay cautious and make the environment safe for everyone.

We’re asking all attendees of events to be respectful of personal space, to be mindful of others preferences in regards to social distancing and to respect those that are wearing face coverings.

To participate in the event, you will need to register for a ticket so we can make sure we have an up-to-date list of those who plan on attending. This is for capacity purposes.

We request that all attendees evaluate their own health and that of those they’re in close contact with. We encourage all attendees that are sick or showing symptoms of illness to stay home and to cancel your Eventbrite ticket if you are no longer able to join the event.

Given the ever-changing nature of the pandemic, please always check your latest national Government guidance in addition to following our baseline guidance enclosed here. If guidelines do change, the event may be cancelled at short notice.

Taking part online

For our interactive online events, the RSA uses the platform Zoom. It may be necessary to follow a short set-up process. To understand how Zoom uses your data, please read their Privacy Policy in advance.

Zoom call joining details will be sent out via email in advance of the event.
