Deliberative processes are emerging around the world. They can tackle divisive issues and polarised opinions by creating spaces for more informed democratic debate and discussion. In turn, more people are looking to innovate with digital tools to increase citizen engagement. But how can digital tools best support and enhance these deliberative methods?
In this interactive online event, the RSA is joining forces with the RSA-US Deliberation Gateway Network and Augmented Society Network, as well as Engage Britain, to explore how online technologies and deliberation intersect in the future.
Guest speakers from FeelReal, Pol.IS and MySociety will present case studies on their particular technology and research. Participants will then break into smaller groups to discuss how technology and deliberation can work together.
This event is part of the RSA's ‘International Week for Democratic Innovation’ in 2020: a series of several different conferences on the topics of democratic innovation and participatory policy-making.
