RSA Health and safety statement
Ultimate responsibility for health and safety lies with the RSA Board of Trustees.
The RSA is committed to providing a healthy and safe working environment and conditions for its employees, Fellows, visitors, guests, contractors and partners, within its control, be it at RSA House, engaged in RSA activities at internal or external events, client sites, or those travelling, working remotely, and/or lone working.
Whilst the RSA accepts overall responsibility for the implementation of this policy, all individuals have a personal responsibility to ensure a healthy and safe working and visiting environment.
All staff and visitors are required to abide by all the health and safety requirements within our Health and Safety Policy and Health and Safety notices displayed within RSA House.
The RSA fulfils its obligations by:
- Complying with the requirements of relevant legislation and, in particular, the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974;
- Having a robust Health and Safety Policy and accompanying procedures in place, which are reviewed on an annual basis;
- Bringing the Health and Safety Policy and procedures to the attention of all staff;
- Ensuring that all staff have the knowledge and competence they require to meet their individual and collective responsibilities to assist them in carrying out their work in a safe manner;
- Ensuring risk assessments are undertaken regularly and risks are appropriately mitigated and controlled;
- Appointing and appropriately training first aiders and fire marshals at RSA House;
- Arranging for the regular testing and maintenance of equipment, plant, and machinery; and
- Having an appropriate process in place for reporting and managing health and safety incidents and near misses.
The RSA’s Health and Safety Policy is available, upon request, by contacting general@rsa.org.uk.
